Vinyl. The black gold for many, rarity for others, and for some people an unknown term. Mostly known thanks to the dj´s, vinyl is definitely not the most selling product in music business. Fortunately, there is still supporters, who try to keep the vinyl culture alive. I met some of them by my visit in Jamaica. There are few events where vinyl’s are played and I would like to introduce you three of them, which are definitely worth to visit while in Kingston. Each one has a special something, read and see for yourself...

On one lazy afternoon in Kingston town (JAM) we met with Sveto and Poky to visit Addis Pablo and Ras Jammy, The Suns of Dub, in the vintage vinyl shop on Orange Street. Big Yard. The place, where, among others, also Dennis Brown and Augustus Pablo used to do reasoning, chill and meditate. I have to say, this place has it´s magic. And when Addis starts to play his melodica, it only gets better... Of course, it was a great occasion to have a talk, and so we did a short interview. Addis and Jammy introduced their project, spoke about Suns of Dub, working with Major Lazer and their plans for this year. Watch the interview (and few photos) we did in Big Yard bellow. And for more news from Suns of Dub just click on "read more"! |
